Typhoon Violeta Unleashes Fury on Aurora

After the onslaught of typhoon Unding, tropical depression Violeta unleashed its fury on Aurora killing 16 people barely a day after Unding left.

According to the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), Violeta's torrent caused a landslide in the municipality of Dingalan which killed 15 people. On the other hand, flashfloods in San Luis killed caused another fatality.

The NDCC also reported that about 14,000 persons or 400 families had to be evacuated to government facilities in Dingalan after their homes were either wrecked or submerged by landslides and floodwaters caused by the heavy rains of Violeta.

Aside from Dingalan and San Luis, Baler was also hit by landslides and floods. NDCC also reported that the Baler-Bongabon Road was impassable due to a landslide in Barangay Villa in Baler.
