Dingalan Death Toll Now 23

Eight more were added to the growing list of casualties of the flashfloods that hit Dingalan last Monday due to typhoons Unding and Violeta. This brings the total death toll for Dingalan to 23.

The Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC) also reported that 12 persons are still missing while 14 others suffered injuries and were being given treatment.

Aside from flashfloods, landslides also wrecked havoc in Dingalan as the residents of Barangay Paltik had to be evacuated as 3-foot deep mud ravaged their homes. Transportation from Nueva Ecija to Dingalan was put to a stop when strong floods washed away the detour bridge in Kuayapa, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

Barangays in southern Dingalan - Butas na Bato, Matawe, Ibuna and Umiray - were also cut off from the town proper when the 40-meter water bridge leading to the barangays was destroyed.

On his report to Governor Bellaflor Angara-Castillo, Dingalan Mayor Jaime Ilarde reported that damage to infrastructures and livestocks were at P45 million.
